Web server at home

This website is hosted by OVH, but since my home has static IPv4 and IPv6 and fiber connection, I’d like to have it here.

How do you set up an home server? Well, there’s plenty of tutorials for setting up an Ubuntu LAMP stack, but I’d like to experiment with something cooler and stay with my preferred distribution Fedora. Here’s the plan:

  • Set up a Fedora server installation
  • Set all the DNS records needed
  • Configure Podman
  • Start by trying a WordPress image
  • Then try to put it behind an Nginx reverse proxy
  • Finally use certbot for HTTPS renewal

It’s a lot to do with containers, and it’s be easy to do the old fashioned way, but still I sense this is the way, as containers will give me some opportunities to learn something new.
